UK – Shivani student at Cambridge shares ebbf experience

Shivani Jain is currently pursuing a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health based in Bethesda, MD. Simultaneously, she is actively pursuing her interests in biotechnology development. Her areas of focus are in immunoepidemiology, cancer genetics, and bioinformatics.

“I am the kind of person that is always forming new friendships and trying to build more creative connections. As a Baha’i, I am constantly seeking to put my values into practice in all that I do.”

She plays an active role in the community and enjoys having meaningful conversations and contributing to elevated discourses, which is why she attended some of the ebbf breakfast events in Cambridge. Following those gatherings, she decided to attend the conference on Justice in the Workplace, about which she shares the following:

“I met a lot of amazing people at this conference and will be sure to build upon the friendships and potential professional connections I’ve made here. I enjoyed learning from others’ perspectives on a variety of topics such as the intersection between justice and mercy in the workplace and how to use practical tools to assess personality in light of work placement. I will keep these concepts in mind as I continue to be proactive in my networks and to spread the message through my deeds more than my words.”
