Gundhild Hoening and Marc Rivers just organized the 4th very inspiring ebbf breakfast in Basel in which they explored ‘how to deal with conflict in the workplace – promoting peace and conflict resolution’.
“Did you hear the story about the American, the Swiss, the German, the Kiwi, the Chinese, the Persian… All having breakfast in a Basel cafe…” was how one of the participants humorously commented the diverse mixture of cultural backgrounds present in the room. In this meeting the concept of “consultation” was introduced as essential to harness the power of unity. Gundhild shared that the participants were very attracted to the model and that they wanted to include it immediately in their leadership meetings and workshops while others wanted to know more about it to implement it in their personal life and work.
Following are some of the quotes they used:
“If they agree on a subject, even though it be wrong, it is better than to disagree and be in the right, for this difference will produce the demolition of the divine foundation. Though one of the parties may be in the right and they disagree that will be the cause of a thousand wrongs, but if they agree and both parties are in the wrong, as it is in unity the truth will be revealed and the wrong made right.”
“The shining spark of truth, cometh forth only after the clash of differing opinions.” — ‘Abdu’l Bahá
