BELFAST – As part of the fourth annual TEDWomen conference, some 220 local TEDx events in 58 countries around the world took place, between 5 & 6 of December, around the theme “Invented Here” and celebrated innovative inventors and designers; thinkers and makers; local problem-solvers and global leaders. Kathleen Holmund was the main organiser for TEDxBelfastWomen.

From a mix of personal stories and inspirational talks around key themes that included identity, communication, inclusion and taking ownership, these were some of the reflections shared by the TEDxBelfastWomen speakers: “Tech alone can’t change the world. Tech powered by love can” said Jane Morrice; “The secret to a successful life is not downplaying what makes you different” shared Susan Hayes; “Instinct is making us extinct” stated Fidelma Meehan in exploring solutions for world peace; “It’s always impossible until it’s done” reminded Veronica Morris.

Many of the speakers were also able to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela and connect their talk to one of his key attributes or motivational quotes. Click here to watch the videos of these talks online.
