“A way to find out is to keep your eyes, ears and heart open and look around you - because there is always something there.  Every person has talents. The point is to find a way to use them.  If you just go out there and look around and talk with people, society will help you find your way.”

I work out of my small office in Amsterdam as a freelance journalist and copywriter.  My company is called Loket 5.  You know when you go to a post office or a bank for several services and then your number is called in the waiting room – that’s a Loket in Dutch - window in English – I chose the name because I wanted to organise events as well as write.

When I was 10 years old I already enjoyed writing stories and when I got to University it became clear writing was my strongpoint - so I decided to make a living out of it.

Then I became a father at a young age and wanted to spend time with my children. I now have five!  As a freelancer I could combine my profession, my family life and my passion for writing.

I’ve written about a lot of subjects for magazines and companies.  What makes my work meaningful is to give good information to people and to choose subjects for magazines and newspapers about positive topics.

For example, I write about developments in the field of education, ways of helping people to get rid of their addictions, or about a better a way to treat our planet.

I realize how lucky I’ve been to know what my life’s work would be at such a young age.  We need to earn money and don’t always know how to DO THAT right away
