Assist Multinationals to Raise Their Accountability
An interesting opportunity to influence multinationals' behaviours come from a like-minded organisation that EBBF fully supports: The One World Trust.
Problems such as climate change, conflict and poverty are global in nature and require global solutions. States alone are inadequate to respond to such complex issues. As a result, intergovernmental organisations (IGOs), transnational corporations (TNCs) and international NGOs (INGOs) have gained an increasingly important role in the governance of international affairs. The dispersal of decision making power has led to the rise of accountability as one of the key issues in the area of global governance.
At the One World Trust, we are working to make global organisations more accountable. This December we will be launching the Global Accountability Index, which compares the accountability of 30 of the world's most powerful organisations from the across the private, public and non-profit sectors.
The One World Trust invites you to help accountability profiles for each of the organisations by clicking on their names and posting your comments and resources on that specifc One World Trust webpage.
